Remember The Darkness? I surely do. They happened to be the purveyors of songs that a high schooler is likely to get stuck in their head; I was that high-schooler and am probably the better for it. Regardless, this is a damn catchy song which can be enjoyed by any age group.

Gyptian: Give IT a Listen
If you've never heard of Gyptian allow for this to be your formal introduction. This song is a viber.
Put it on and vibe ladies and gentleman.

Listen
Now, I am, admittedly, not the biggest fan of Lil' Wayne or even rap music in general; I think a lot of it is decadent and derogatory but that's an argument and discussion for another time and place. Good rap, however subjective of a term that may be, does resonate with me, and this Weezy joint is GREAT rap.
This song has meaning and the musical chops and sound to stack up with just about anything. It's from the recently leaked Carter 3 album and is called "Tie My Hands."
Enjoy.

The Carter 3 Has Leaked: It's Official

For all of you WeezyHeads out there -- The Carter 3 has been leaked to the Internet.
I'm not a Lil' Wayne fan myself but I understand it's really the cat's ass to some of you out there.
One Weezy fanatic, after listening to the oft-delayed album, said, "I've only listened to the first four tracks, and at first I didn't know what too think. But, after listening again, I think it's clear that Lil' Wayne is taking a much more mature approach to his music. I feel like, despite how different it may be from his previous work, true Weezy fans will be able appreciate this growth as an artist. I'm going back to my room now to vibe out to the rest of the album."

Give This a Shot...
This is an Elliott Smith song from back in the day. If you do not know who Elliott Smith is than you have either never been clinically depressed or you are not an avid-music fan -- maybe both.
Elliott Smith's voice kind of sounded like he could kill himself at any moment. Coincidentally, Elliott did this. He committed suicide by stabbing himself in the chest with a butcher's knife -- pretty intense way to go, I know.
This is a, slightly, more upbeat version of the song "Between the Bars." The singer's name is Metric and I think she does a pretty good job of getting the somber vibe across.

Listen to This
Listen to this Simon and Garfunkel song and be happy. It reminds me of my childhood.
You've got to give it a try at least through the chorus.

Oxford Town: Bob Dylan's Tribute to James Meredith
Now, there's no way I can effectively hide my man-love for Bob Dylan, so, every once in a while, to get my fix, I'm going to have to post some Dylan material on here.
This song is called Oxford Town and was written by Dylan about James Meredith's enrollment into the University of Mississippi; Meredith was the first black student enrolled in the school and his acceptance and entry only happened through a direct order from President Kennedy.
There was rioting and beatings leading up to the first day of class as civil-rights workers poured into Oxford and clashed with the cities segregationists and racists.
When the dust cleared many were injured and two of those civil-rights workers were dead. This is Dylan's tribute to the ordeal. It is only 1:50 long, but, in my opinion, it is extremely effective. This is one of my favorite Dylan songs and I think it's a shame that not many people have ever heard it. What may be most impressive is that he was only 21 when he wrote this.

Radiohead Isn't All That Bad
It has come to my attention that I may have been a little tough on Radiohead recently. It is true, I do appreciate the band and their music a great deal. So, Radiohead, this is my Olive branch. However, I still don't forgive you for your sub-par visual aid at concerts; that is still bullshit and a travesty to paying concert-goers everywhere.
This is one of my favorite songs. Listen and enjoy.

Toyota Sequoia Commercial Song
Ignore the shitty out-the-window nature of this home video -- and yes, whoever made this video is just playing the song in their car while filming out the window. That is missing the point though.
This song plays in that damn Toyota commercial and I had some trouble finding this song anywhere, so here it is for your listening enjoyment. The song is by a fellow named Pete Droge and is, in my opinion, pretty damn catchy.

The Shit...
I'm not sure how many of you have heard this song but if you haven't you absolutely need to. Now I'm not saying this is the greatest song of all time or anything like that -- but it may be the coolest song I've ever heard; I think it taps into the inner drug dealer in all of us. It's kind of like that feeling you got as an adolescent listening to 50 cent; you just feel awesomely dangerous.
